Arta Valstar-Verhoff
born in 1956 in Osnabrück/Germany
Arta Valstar-Verhoff studied Fine Arts, Archaeology and Dutch Culture at the universities of Cologne and Bonn and finished at the University of Bonn with her doctoral thesis “die abstrakten hannover – Carl Buchheister, César Domela, Rudolf Jahns, Hans Nitzschke, Kurt Schwitters und Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart 1927-1935”.
Since 1985 she has been organising exhibitions and has written essays on Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart, El Lissitzky, Kurt Schwitters, Theo van Doesburg and their artist groups, on 20th century sculpture, constructivism, women artists and contemporary young artists like Eva Fiore Kovacovsky or Bettina Marx.
Her texts have been published for museum and gallery publications in Germany, Europe and Japan.
She has been doing research work for the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation for many years, is on the jury of the VG Award by the Foundation since 1995 and a trustee since 2012.
She annually is a jury member for several art awards and fellowships and has been lecturing at the universities of Bonn and Saarbrücken as well as the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Hamburg since 1991.
She lives and works in Bonn as a curator and author.
