Archive Vordemberge-Gildewart
at Museum Wiesbaden

The Archive Vordemberge-Gildewart at Museum Wiesbaden was donated to the institution in 1997 by the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation, Rapperswil/CH.

Since then it belongs to the section “Estates and research”, that is an important part of the museal work of the Museum Wiesbaden.

Within the archive of the artist Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart (1899-1962) documents of a long artistic life can be viewed by anyone.

Letters, sketchbooks, guest-books, photographs, lots of studies and sketches on projects in applied arts, autographs, typescripts and a fragmentary autobiography as well as VG’s private bibliotheque form a picture of the artist’s thinking and his world as part of the international abstract and concrete avantgarde of the 20th century.
